Bedford is just an hour's drive from Manhattan or about the same duration to Grand Central by train on the Metro North from the Bedford Hills or Mount Kisco train stations.

The Mianus River Gorge, with an entrance within walking distance of the house, is a 755-acre nature preserve with walking trails throughout which is open eight months of the year. There are also beautiful walks to take throughout the wooded hilly roads of the neighborhood. Bedford's quaint village has shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre.
